The Temple of Olympian Zeus Olympieion or, colloquially referred to as columns or Temple of Olympian Zeus, an important ancient temple in Athens. Although the construction of began in the 6th century BC, it was not completed in spite of the Roman Emperor Hadrian in the 2nd century AD .. It was the largest temple in Greece during the Hellenistic and Roman times.
The church is located southeast of the Acropolis and 700 meters from the center of Athens. The foundations of the first church in the area, was built by the tyrant of Athens Peisistratus in 515 BC but the work stopped when the son of Pisistratus, Hippias ostracized in 510 BC
